where web content management and user experience collide

About me

Hi, I’m your host, Michael Kowalski. Born and raised in NZ, now resident in London. I’m the founder of Contentment, a startup building new publishing solutions.

I’ve been involved in content management for a decade, mostly doing product management and UX design. I cofounded Kitsite, a technical web agency. I’ve worked on projects for the Guardian, BBC, London 2012, Sony and Newscorp. And I’ve done some dumb things along the way. I once coded a drag-and-drop web page editor for Netscape 4 (using ilayers, since you ask); turned out most authors had no design skills to speak of and quickly trashed their site branding. Who’d have thought?

But I’ve also learned a lot of good things, which I’m going to talk about on this blog. Hope you find some of it useful.
